St. Edward
Catholic School will provide an Extended Day Program (S.E.E.D.) for
use by parents whose working hours do not permit them to pick up their
children at dismissal times. This is all in accordance with Diocesan
policy and the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department.
There
is one exception to this: pre-kindergarten children may be enrolled
for the afternoon program. Special permission has been granted for
this so parents do not need to make three trips to school on the days
pre-kindergartners are enrolled.
Children
are not to be enrolled for any other reason: errands, shopping, doctor's
appointments, etc. or in anticipation of an emergency situation. When
an emergency arises the parent should call the school to discuss the
situation. Each case will be handled on an individual basis.
S.E.E.D.
will begin with the first full day of School (August 13th) and will
be in session on regularly scheduled school days only. Please note
there will be no afternoon SEED program on December 18, the beginning
of the Christmas Holiday, April 1, (Holy Thursday), and Field Day,
May 14.
Morning
sessions begin at 7:00 a.m.; students will be taken to their classrooms
at 7:30 a.m.
The afternoon
session of S.E.E.D. will begin at the noon dismissal for those in
the morning pre-kindergarten programs until the afternoon dismissal
at 3:15 p.m. or until parents pick-up children after work. Pre-kindergarten
children will need to bring a lunch or may participate in the school
milk or lunch program; they are also required to bring a large towel
marked with the student's name for the nap/rest period. This session
will include time for lunch, restroom break, nap/rest period, organized
and free play, story time, etc.
At dismissal
K-8 students will be signed in for S.E.E.D. All students arriving
to S.E.E.D. after 3:15 p.m. but before 3:45 p.m. will be signed in
at 3:15 p.m.
Kindergartners
and other students will join the program at the 3:15 dismissal (2:00
on early dismissal Fridays). This time period will include a snack,
restroom break, physical exercise, study time and/or quiet time, organized
and free play, games, etc.
The Extended
Day Program will close promptly at 6:00 p.m. There will be an additional
charge for late pick-ups. There will be a $2.00 per minute charge
assessed for each child not picked up by 6:00 p.m.
Parents
who have children attending the morning session of S.E.E.D. will be
required to "sign-in" each day that the child attends; parents
who have children attending the afternoon session will be required
to "sign-out" their children each day, giving time of pick-up
and initialing. If no check-out time is recorded, we will use 6:00
p.m. for the sign-out time.
Since
S.E.E.D. is actually an extension of the school day, students are
required to adhere to all school regulations concerning behavior,
respect for those in charge, each other, and property, good order,
not leaving the grounds, wearing of uniforms, etc. Students not in
compliance with the above rules will be subject to exclusion from
the program.
The registration fee is $25.00 per family and should be attached to
the S.E.E.D. Information Form. All students must be registered for
S.E.E.D. to attend S.E.E.D.
The charges
are $3.00 per hour per child. Unregistered students, who attend S.E.E.D.,
because of dire emergency, will be charged $3.00 per hour.
Invoices
will be sent out once a month and will be due upon receipt. The invoices
will be sent home with the students in their Thursday envelopes. If
payment is not received by the following Thursday, a late charge of
$35 will be assessed, and students will be subject to exclusion from
the program. The parent or guardian of the student is responsible
for the payments. If someone other than the parent/guardian is paying,
it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to forward the invoice.
